Agility Logistics Parks

Building World-Class Logistics Infrastructure for MEA

Play Video

Today, Agility Logistics Parks is one of the largest private owners, developers and operators of industrial real estate in the Middle East and Africa, building large-scale warehousing and light-industrial parks that support industry.

Roots

The roots of the company began in Kuwait, with the 1997 privatization of two ~1 million SQM logistics parks established by the Kuwaiti government nearly two decades earlier.  At one park, Agility built a new, state-of-the-art 20,000 SQM warehouse and began managing goods for companies renting storage space.

The new warehouse was ALP’s flagship facility and the most modern of its kind in the Middle East. It was among the first built to a 14-meter clear height and to install Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) pallet racking, which allows for ultra-efficient, high-density storage and increased warehouse capacity.

Emerging Markets Growth

That initial investment in Kuwait was fueled by the company’s belief that existing industrial infrastructure in the Gulf and other emerging markets needed to be upgraded to support consumer and business demand in societies that were rapidly opening to trade and growing economically. Agility went on to build more logistics parks, in Saudi Arabia , Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar and Oman; as well as to open logistics parks across the African continent and South Asia.

Over Time

– In 2009, Agility’s Qatar warehousing operations were acquired by the Gulf Warehousing Co.; with Agility taking a minority stake in the company, which it retains to this day.

– In 2021, most of Agility’s warehousing facilities in the UAE – among the largest warehousing complexes in the Emirates at the time, as well as its Oman and Bahrain warehouses, were acquired by DSV, as part of its acquisition of Agility Global Integrated Logistics in all-shares transaction. Agility is one of the largest shareholders in DSV today.

– As of the listing of Agility Global on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) in 2024, Agility’s Kuwait Logistics Parks operates directly under Agility Public Warehousing KSCP; the controlling shareholder of Agility Global, which owns Agility Logistics Parks.

What sets ALP apart?

Long-term view: Agility has been a patient investor and skilled, long-term operator. Agility Logistics Parks sees long-term upside in owning, operating and expanding ALP warehousing parks, aligning with the macro trends of ecommerce and market-localised manufacturing.  We believe multi-nationals and regional and local champions need and deserve infrastructure with world-class design, construction and engineering that brings improved efficiencies to their operations. That means 24/7 power and water, high-tech security, and first-class facilities maintenance; creating an operational environment that enables businesses to thrive.

Digital readiness and innovative solutions: We see well-run logistics parks – secure, connected and permitted — as ideal places to host the hyperscale data centres that Middle East countries are investing in to accelerate growth in the digital age. Most of our parks contain areas that are prepped and able to host data centre campuses. Across the world, our logistics parks at are focused on solutions that make doing business easier, whether it be digital security, customs solutions, or beyond.

Sustainability: Finally, we are determined to be sustainability leaders. ALP warehouses are designed with energy efficient lighting and building materials; xeriscaping and drought-tolerant plants; water conservation features and recycling zones; and rooftop solar capability. A warehouse at the ALP in Riyadh was the first building in Saudi Arabia and first warehouse in the GCC to earn EDGE Advanced green building certification; the ALP facility in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire was the first in West Africa to earn EDGE Advanced status. EDGE Advance buildings are “zero-carbon ready” structures that are at least 40% more energy efficient than others in the market.
